Back Pain Relief Stretches Exercises

If you are prone to back injuries, it may be because you are not exercising your back muscles properly… or at all!  Here are some thoughts on back pain relief stretches exercises to consider.

Most muscle sprains, strains and tears come about because we undertake a strenuous physical activity without properly stretching before jumping in!

When our friends are calling to us to join in that pick-up game, few of us consider the possibility of being injured! But, you can be hurt – badly. Our sedentary lifestyles almost demand it!

Taking a couple minutes to warm up may irritate the waiting teams, but you could be saving a lifetime of chronic pain.

In addition, add a series of back strengthening and stretching exercises to your daily routine! Ten or fifteen minutes of admittedly boring exercising will give you benefits out of all proportion to the expended effort!

If you ARE injured, the first thing most of us do is reach for the handiest bottle of pain killers! This is not only dangerous, but can be fatal! Check out my e-book on the subject. there is a link in the sidebar. ———————–>

If you want a pain reliever, there are two I’ve found that are far more effective than the other OTC meds, and they work with no side effects! Check them out here – “Heal ‘n Soothe” and “Rub On Relief

The following article discusses back pain relief stretches & exercises you may want to employ…

Upper Back Pain Relief – Simple Exercises That Work Reducing Upper Back Pain!

Upper back pain can be just as painful and difficult to tolerate and live

with as lower back pain. It is essential that there are exercises available

for people with upper back discomfort. Following a simple and easy to understand

exercise regimen for upper back pain can be a productive way to reduce your discomfort.

Proper exercises can be obtained from books, video, medical

professionals, and online sources. However, when starting out with an exercise program to help reduce the pain it could be helpful to have a professional like a

physical therapist or trainer to go through the exercises with you first.

The professional may be able to offer some simple and easy tips for exercises

that are specific to your condition or illness. Then once the

exercises are learned you can continue the process at home and not

necessarily always have to return to the medical professional’s office.

Some upper back pain relief exercises that are quite easy to follow involve

some very simple stretching motions. The exercises can become more intense

and offer more of a stretch when they include the arms and shoulders.

The first exercise is pulling your shoulder blades back, moving them towards

each other, and then stretching your arms out to the side to open the rib

cage. The upper back should be pushed forward when this is done and that

will alleviate some of the tension which could be causing pain. The muscles

in the front and the back of the spine are stretched and then this does a

few things. It increases circulation, strengthens muscles, and relaxes the

muscles.

The second set of exercises are following the same

as the first exercise but stretching the arms above the head. This allows a

deeper stretch and therefore may provide more relief. The more the upper

back is flatted, the more intense the stretch, and then the more relief that

can be obtained.

The upper back is typically where people carry their stress. This stress

caused pain can be alleviated often by following upper back pain relief

exercises. It is always a positive thing when medications and intense

expensive therapies are not needed. Many people who get upper

back pain will practice yoga in order to not only relieve the pain, but it’s also

productive in preventing upper back pain from happening again.

This is especially true when the pain is caused by stress. The meditative

elements of yoga make for a peaceful and calm atmosphere. Yoga gyms

and places of practice can be found in your local directory. The professionals

there can offer advice on back pain reduction as well.

Back Pain Treatment For Dogs

Here’s one you may not have considered… getting chiropractic treatment for your dog! When you stop to think about it, it shouldn’t seem strange. Dogs have a spine, joints and muscles just like we do – and chiropractic care as a viable Back Pain Treatment For Dogs makes a lot of sense.

chiropractic adjustments for dogs aren’t exactly a common thing so you should be careful to find a chiropractor who has training and experience in the area. Actually, you should go to the Vet first and get a referral.

Who knows, the time may come when you will be on an adjustment table next to Fido!

Check out the following article for more information.

Chiropractic Treatment for Dogs

Dogs’ lives have their risks. Working dogs – performance dogs in particular – have to cope with additional stresses and strains to their musculoskeletal system. Police dogs work hard and have to jump huge heights in their training and racing greyhounds are subject to particular hazards such as constantly running round tracks in just one direction and bumping into each other while racing. Working sheepdogs are subject to risks of various kinds both while training and working, and even domestic dogs are liable to falls and bumps, slips, traffic accidents and disc degeneration.

The dog’s spine is fairly flexible and the joints between each vertebrae allows quite a range of movement such as curling up in bed as well as normal bending and stretching. However, sometimes through such things as a fall, or a bad slip, or skidding on a wooden floor the joint can suddenly be taken to the extreme range of its movement. This could also be caused by long term trauma such as always landing on the same leg when jumping, or repetitive twisting movements such as chasing a frisbee or taking part in agility.

Back problems causing lameness

When a joint in the spine is taken to its extreme range of movement the muscles tighten around it to stop it going any further. It’s just the body’s own way of protecting itself. This muscle tightness holds the joint in a fixed position causing it to become misaligned with its neighbours. Most misalignments resolve themselves through normal spinal movements such as bending, twisting and rolling, but some can and do persist as the muscle may go into spasm, causing discomfort and even nerve irritation.

Some of the symptoms the dog may show are:-

  • having difficulty jumping up or down
  • crying when getting up or lying down
  • a reluctance to play or exercise
  • a change in posture
  • a change in behaviour
  • lameness or limb dragging
  • pain or discomfort

This is when an outside influence such as an adjustment is usually required. The animal technique is a whole body treatment and is a relatively gentle technique which delivers a short sharp thrust to a specific area in order to release muscle spasm, return the joint to its normal range of movement and create the right conditions for the body to heal itself.

After the treatment the dog will need to rest for 24 hours. He/she may feel a little bit stiff or sore, may feel very sleepy or drink more than usual – however this is perfectly normal.

Increasingly, vets are happy to refer their clients to suitably qualified practitioners but, as with all animal health problems, you should always seek Veterinary advice first.

There are many things a dog owner can do to help look after their dog’s back and general mobility.

You can learn how to assess your dog, learn how to massage your dog here, stretching routines, warm-up and warm-down routines, and other treatment options.

If you have been sidelined by a sore back, join the crowd! 8 out of 10 of us will eventually suffer from back pain. In fact, it’s the leading cause of missed work! What are the Back Aches – Causes that most affect the average person?

We all know the old cliche about lifting with the legs and not the back, but even so, “throwing out” you back by lifting incorrectly is one of the big time Back Aches – Causes.

Another big one is poor posture! we sit at our desks all day – hunched over a computer keyboard – and wonder why our back hurts!

Next up – we sit all day, leading sedentary lives… then on the weekend we go out and play on our local sports team, or with the kids and very few of us take the time to warm up and stretch first.

Actually, it is surprising that there are any of us that actually aren’t hurting.

By the way, all the most popular pain killers have side effects that can kill you. check out my ebook on the topic. there is a link in the sidebar. ————————->

If you need pain killers, try “Rub On Relief” and “Heal ‘n Soothe” they are both very effective and work with no side affects!

Here is an article discussing Back Aches – Causes – check it out…

Causes and Treatments of Lower Back Pain

Back Agony Discomfort in the area above the legs and below the ribs is known as lower back pain. Most of the body weight rests on the lower back which could cause a lot of tension on it. It gets even more strained when you reach out to something, life it or stretch at length. Back agony isn’t a consistent formula in nature. It could be lifeless or too much or may shape up suddenly or develop gradually. It may also occur together with muscle cramps and may be accompanied by numbness, pain and tingling sensation in the legs.

The most usual causes of lower back pain are- spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, spinal deformities and any injuries caused to the muscles or the ligaments. Apart from these reasons, there are a few other causes that might lead to lower back pain. They are- aortic aneurysm, peptic ulcers, gall bladder illness and pancreatitis.

There are numerous medication available to treat lumbar region agony. They can help reduce the pain as well as inflammation that may sometimes accompany it. Ibuprofen and Naproxen are 2 such medications that are truly effective at treating back agony if taken regularly. Also, if you suffer with protracted back pain then you might take tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressant medicines. They are very effective in treating this condition. Corticosteroid injections and anesthetics are the following way to block the sensation of agony and ease inflammation.

Besides these medications, there are several other therapies as well that can help treat lumbar region discomfort. Backbone adjustment is one such treatment. It can be performed by a chiropractor, osteopath or a physical therapy spine specialist.

Alternatively, heat or cold packs might also be used to treat the problem. If you want to use heat therapy you can make use of heating pads or take a shower with warm water. The heat stretches the tissues that are in pain and provides relief. Cold therapy, on the other hand, numbs the nerves carrying the pain and provides relief. Wrap some ice in a towel and use it to the affected area.

Acupuncture is another nonconventional method to relieve lower back pain. In acupuncture, a trained professional pierces some points on your skin with minuscule needles. The depth of the needles in awfully shallow and does not cause any pain. Some studies show that acupuncture is better way to reduce discomfort than medicinal treatment.

There are many exercises as well that can help treat the problem. Here are some of them.

Pelvic Tilt

Lie straight on the floor. Bend your knees. Hold your abdominal muscles tight. Your lower back should touch the floor. Stay in the same position for five minutes and then relax. Repeat this couple of times.

Back Stretch

Lie on your belly straight on the floor. Now with aid from your palms, attempt to lift your higher body. Go in for 10 repetitions each day.

Knee to Chest

Keep your legs straight and lie down on your back. Move your one knee up to the chest while keeping the other one grounded to the floor. Stay in the position for five seconds and then relax. Repeat the same with the other leg and practice it five times each day. Therefore , you could fight lumbar region pain with the help of the above stated medicines or alternative treatment methods.

Back Pain Treatment Electrical Stimulation

It seems that every week there is a new “cure” for back pain. The latest is Back Pain Treatment Electrical Stimulation.

This is a technique where low level electrical currents are applied to the sore area and they block the body’s electrical transmission of pain signals to the brain.

The funny thing is, they work! This is a good way to block pain while your back is healing, but keep in mind that it is not a “cure” just a new way of handling the pain.

Along those lines, it is very good. Actually it’s far better than reaching for a handful of pain killers. All the most popular ones have side effects that are well known and documented killers – not of the pain but of YOU!

In addition to the electrical stimulation, if you want some pain killing medication, two of the best ones have no side effects! Check out “Rub On Relief” and “Heal ‘n Soothe

In the meantime check out this article for more information on Back Pain Treatment Electrical Stimulation…

Back Pain – Can Electrical Stimulation Cure Back Pain?

Supposedly this unit is battery operated and fits onto my belt. Patches are applied to my back and connected to the belt unit. Mild electrical current is then applied blocking transmission of pain signals along the nerves. Electrical stimulation also results in promoting the release of endorphins which are natural painkillers produced by the body.

This all sounded interesting but the idea of having electrical charges shooting though my body did sound a bit dangerous and reminded me of all those electrical devices that were sold years ago that were nothing more than medical quackery. However my therapist assures me this was not the case. The electric current is very low and not dangerous and there has been a lot of solid research on the effectiveness of this apparatus. Another thing that convinced me to try it was the approval of my surgeon and my insurance company.

Is electrical simulation a cure for your aching back? Well ever situation is unique. But studies do indicate that electrical stimulation can be part of an over all treatment program. Now this device doesn’t take the place of other treatments such as losing weight, physical therapy and exercise. How it allows the patient to participate in these therapies without pain or at least with a minimum of pain. Whether the device is for you depends on your situation and your doctors okay. I will stress however that whatever option you take it is important to also follow a program or system of exercise that is designed specifically for your condition and has a proven tract record of success.

One of the top rated programs is called the Lose The Back Pain System developed by therapists and doctors of the Healthy back Institute. This program has helped thousands by strengthening muscles and eliminating muscles imbalance. As someone who has suffered with a bad back and who has endured months of physical therapy and an operation, I can tell you there are solutions for your discomfort.

The Buck Stops Here! You deserve relief from your aching back and to live pain free. There are alternatives to suffering and surgery. Finally Revealed, the Top Five Lumbar Back Pain Treatments

While there are many different ailments that are a frequent cause of a trip to the doctor’s office, one of the most common is lumbar back pain. Many people are often in a lot of pain due to their aching backs, but there are a number of different treatment options available that can help relieve the pain. Since surgery is not always the best option, there are five other treatment methods that can be used instead. Physical therapy, medication, spinal injections, chiropractic care, and alternative medicine treatments are the most popular treatment methods.

Physical therapy is an excellent way to relieve pain and can be used at home when the pain persists. Although this method will not fix the problem, it is a temporary treatment that can be used at any time. By using a therapy, such as hot and cold therapy, water therapy, and massage therapy, along with specific exercises that target the back muscles, pain can be reduced considerably. Stretching exercises can be used to increase the flexibility of the back and strengthening exercises can be used to help the spine in times of stress.

While medication is often the last thing anyone wants to take, when dealing with lumbar back pain, it can be quite helpful. Most of the medications taken to relieve pain are sold over-the-counter, but more powerful medications may be necessary through a prescription. NSAIDs are helpful in reducing the inflammation and Acetaminophen is helpful in relieving the pain.

Spinal injections may be necessary for those who are suffering from back pain on a regular basis and they can help doctors understand where the pain is actually coming from. A Facet Joint Injection can reduce the pain and inflammation from pain associated with the facet joint in the spine. An Epidural Injection is necessary if the pain is coming from the epidural space and nerve root. While these are both very helpful, they should not be the only treatment method.

Chiropractic treatments can work to realign the spine and reduce the occurrence of lumbar back pain. Manual detection of the problem is the first step in chiropractic care, along with careful applied pressure and massage, manipulation of the spine, exercise, and lifestyle counseling.

Alternative medicine is one that has become quite popular as many people wish to use natural substances instead of medications and surgery to correct their health concerns. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are very popular as their roots extend back in time and they are both very effective. Biofeedback techniques are also helpful to many as they use mental and physical exercises to help relieve the pain.

Whichever treatment method is chosen is entirely up to the patient, but these are the top five being used for back pain throughout the world today. When surgery is not the option you wish to consider, one of these other treatment methods may work instead.
